Convention i n 1961. She served one two- year term but was unable
to accept the second term due to expanding farm respons
i b i l i t i e s . During her term as Convener many worthwhile projects
were undertaken by the W. I. Constituency and i n t e r e s t i n I n s t i t u t e s
increased. She was asked t o represent the Women's I n s t i t u t e s on
v a r i o u s l o c a l and p r o v i n c i a l o r g a n i z a t i o n s . She attended the
A. C. W. W. Conference i n Toronto i n 1953 and i n Edinburgh i n 1959t
as w e l l as s e v e r a l N a t i o n a l Conferences.
Mr. and Mrs. Richards have two c h i l d r e n : G- wen, a graduate o f
Boyal Alexander H o s p i t a l , now married w i t h two c h i l d r e n and l i v e s
at Eenticton. A aon, Alex, i s a p a r t n e r on the f a m i l y farm -
married with two boys.
Besides her i n t e r e s t i n W. I. Mrs. Richards has been a c t i ve
as a D i r e c t o r o f the Red Deer A g r i c u l t u r e Society; a member o f
the Order of the Eastern Star; East Honored Royal Lady of the Royal
Purple; four years as a D i r e c t o r on the l o c a l YMCA Board; and pres
e n t l y an E l d e r on the S e s s i o n o f the U n i t e d Church. Her hobbies
are gardening i n summer and h a n d i c r a f t s and bowling i n winter.
The A l b e r t a Women's I n s t i t u t e Council presented Mrs. Richards
w i t h a L i f e Membership at the 1963 P r o v i n c i a l Convention f o r her
valued c o n t r i b u t i o n as a Council member f o r s i x y e a r s.
