MISS OLIVE JEANETTE FLEMING
Miss Olive Jeanette
Fleming was born i n London,
Ontario i n 1891. Ln 1910
she moved to a farm i n the
Argyle d i s t r i c t twenty- two
miles south of Sedgewick.
In 1922 the Fleming family
moved to B r i t i s h Columbia,
returning to t h e i r former
home i n Alberta i n 1926.
Miss Fleming was
active i n a l l community
work. She was a Charter
Member of the Argyle Women's
Institute which was organize
by her mother, Mrs. Anne Fleming i n March 1913. U n t i l the
time of her death i n May 1953 » Miss Fleming was an outstanding
worker i n t h i s organization both i n Alberta and B r i t i s h
Columbia. She was instrumental i n the organization of an
Alberta Women's Institute G i r l s ' Club i n the Argyle d i s t r i ct
i n 1917, and became i t s f i r s t president and also served the
club i n other o f f i c i a l capacities for many years.
A devout Christian and member of the Presbyterian
Church, she was active i n church and Sunday School work
