MRS. ARTHUR NORRIS
Glendale W. I. at Cochrane honored Mrs. Arthur
Norris, a charter member, i n 1956 by conferring upon her
a I* ife Membership i n the Alberta Women's Institutes. Mrs.
Norris had been instrumental i n organizing the branch i n
1925. Since then she has served i n every o f f i c e of the
Glendale branch, many of them f o r several terms, for a
grand t o t a l of twenty- two years.
Susie Finn was born i n
Saskatchewan i n the Percy area
i n 1892,. the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. P h i l i p Finn. After a sojourn
i n C a l i f o r n i a of seven years
where the mother passed away, the
Finn family returned to Saskatchewan
where Susie took her public
school training. She completed
her high school work i n Calgary
and graduated from Normal School
there. She began teaching i n 1913
taking her f i r s t school at Manor
near Three H i l l s.
It was while she was teaching at Glendale that
she met her future husband, Arthur -" orris. Mr. and Mrs.
Norris reared a family of three sons and one daughter.
They are now retired and l i v i n g i n Calgarv.
