MRS. W. F. H. BROWN Blanche Hawks was horn November 12, 1872 on a farm i n Township Younge three miles from the v i l l a g e of Addison, Ontario. The family farm was Crown land given to the U. E. L o y a l i s t Settlers and she was of the f i f t h generation of United Empire L o y a l i s t stock. A high school graduate of the Athens school, she attained her teaching c e r t i f i c a t e to teach i n the country schools of that time. After four years she entered Brock-v i l l e Business College and l a t e r worked as accountant f or the Canada Carriage Co. In 1900 she married W. P. H. Brown of Carleton Place, Ontario.
