MRS. GEORGE RJGH
Alice May Gates was " born i n Stafford, England, May 31,
1892. She was educated at hoarding schools at Ryde, Isle of
Wight, and C l i f t o n v i l l e , Kent.
She came to Stony Plain, Alberta, i n December 1914 and
joined the Stony l l a i n ¥. 1. ( to which her mother, Mrs. C. A.
Gates, already belonged) just f i f t y years ago. She h=< s been a
Women's Institute member ever since. When the Alberta Women's
Institutes G i r l s ' Clubs were formed i n 1919? she was asked to
form one at Stony P l a i n . At the 1920 Provincial. Convention held
in the P i r s t Baptist Church, Edmonton, was elected P i r s t Vice-
President on the f i r s t Provincial Executive of G i r l s ' Clubs.
Later, on marrying George Pugh and moving to Jasper where
