MRS. J . A. CAMPBELL
One of the best known Women's Institute workers
of southern Alberta was presented with her L i f e Membership
at the Annual D i s t r i c t Conference of D i s t r i c t 4 at Leth-bridge
i n March 1955 by her home Constituency of Warner i n
recognition of her long years of service i n the f i e l d of
P u b l i c i t y both i n the press and on the a i r.
Alice A. Hallonquist was born at Bergen, Manitoba,
on November 22, 1892. She attended a r u r a l school th^ re,
L i t t l e Mountain # 52; then continued her high school education
i n Winnipeg, New Westminster and Calgary. She grad
uated from Calgary Normal School and taught at Dalroy, Bow
Island and Taber before joining the s t a f f of one of the Cal
gary schools. She wed John Alexander Campbell of Dundee,
Scotland i n June 1920 and went to Grassy Lake as a bride.
She was instrumental i n organizing Better Days V. I.
at Grassy Lake as she had been interested i n the Institutes
while teaching at Taber i n 1915.
