s p a r k l i n g p e r s o n a l i t y and S c o t t i s h wit she was q u i c k ly
accepted by the people of Etzikom.
She became a Charter Member o f Etzikom V/ omen's I n s t i
t u t e i n A p r i l 1950 and acted as branch s e c r e t a r y f o r the
f i r s t three years. In 1954 she was e l e c t e d Convener o f Medi
c i n e Hat Constituency and d u r i n g that, time she organized
Hoping V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e and the Etzikom Rosebuds G i r l s'
Club. Talented i n a r t s and c r a f t s , Mrs. H e i t r i c h made an
outstanding c o n t r i b u t i o n t o the h a n d i c r a f t d i s p l a y s t h a t were
sent to the Montana Stage E a i r i n the United States i n 1953
and 1954 by D i s t r i c t 4? A. V/. I. She won more than one ribbon
f o r the A l b e r t a entry. She was appointed as P r o v i n c i a l Convener
of Home Economics i n 1957 s e r v i n g f o r a two- year term.
Mrs. H e i t r i c h was chosen one of the delegates from her d i s t
r i c t t o a t t e n d the N a t i o n a l Convention of the Federated
Women's I n s t i t u t e s o f Canada i n Ottawa i n October 1958.
In June 1958 a t the c l o s e o f h e r f o u r year term of
o f f i c e the e i g h t branches o f Medicine Hat Constituency presented
her w i t h a L i f e Membership c e r t i f i c a t e and p i n i n recogn
i t i o n of h e r devotion t o h e r work as convener.
Mrs. H e i t r i c h plans t o r e v i s i t her n a t i v e Scotland i n
1959 and a l s o attend the T r i e n n i a l Conference o f the Associated
Country Women o f the World i n Edinburgh.
