S h o r t l y a f t e r t h e i r a r r i v a l i n Nunson, Mrs. Sibbald
joined the l o c a l V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e . She was l a t e r elected
s e c r e t a r y , then president of her branch. She advanced f u r t h er
to the o f f i c e of Constituency Convener and then to D i s t r i ct
D i r e c t o r of what was then D i s t r i c t I I I , s e r v i n g i n that capa
c i t y from 1935 to 1939.
When, on the death of her husband, she moved to Drumh
e l l e r i n 1945 she d i d not lose touch with her beloved i n s t i t ute
work but joined the branch i n Drumheller. When i t disbanded
she became a member of the South Drumheller group. She joined
Verdant V a l l e y V/. I. i n 1952 and has served as branch secretary
since that time ( E d i t o r ' s note: Mrs. Sibbald i s one of the outstanding
branch s e c r e t a r i e s i n the province f o r content, neatness
and promptness)
Mrs. Sibbald has taken an a c t i v e i n t e r e s t i n the work of
Knox United Church, serving as a s s i s t a n t t o the deaconess with t. 1
kindergarten - a l a b o r of love but no remuneration - as p i a n i s t,
teacher and envelope secretary i n the Sunday School. She i s a P;
Matron of the Order of the E a s t e r n Star and a L i f e Member of the
Women's M i s s i o n a r y Society.
She i s the mother of f i v e sons and f e e l s with nine grandsons
and eight granddaughters her f a m i l y i s complete.
Drumheller- Hand H i l l s Constituency bestowed a L i f e Membership
upon Mrs. S i b b a l d i n I960 i n s i n c e r e a p p r e c i a t i o n of her
many years of s e r v i c e t o the V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e s i n t h e i r area.
