During these years one son, David, ana two daughters,
A i l e e n and Mary were born. Ann and Sandra were born i n
the f i r s t few years of t h e i r residence i n Port Saskatchewan.
Dorothy's father came to l i v e with them while l i v i ng
i n Luscar and moved with them to Port Saskatchewan. He
continued to l i v e with them u n t i l his death i n I96I. He
was a k i n d l y man and he was the proud f i r s t class winner of
a Women's I n s t i t u t e rug competition. Dot's nephew a l so
found a welcome homey atmosphere f o r several years with them
at the Port.
Dorothy i s an a c t i v e member of the United Church having
taught Sunday School for several years. Her musical t a l e nt
i s keen and enables her to give music lessons. She enjoyed
square dancing for many years. She i s an avid reader and
she and her family made good use of the U n i v e r s i t y Extension
L i b r a r y . . Dorothy has worked i n the Port Saskatchewan Munic
i p a l Library for the past two years.
Dorothy joined the Port Saskatchewan Women's I n s t i t u te
i n 1967 and she i s one of the most a c t i v e members of the
branch. She accepted the p o s i t i o n of Handicraft Convener
from I969 to 1973 and sparked an increased p a r t i c i p a t i on
i n every department of h a n d i c r a f t , the Tweedsmuir Competition,
J& P Coates' competition, and Short Story and Poetry competit
i o n s . She i s able to help anyone i n many c r a f t s , k n i t t i n g,
sewing, macrame', weaving, hooking rugs, and she has won
many honors i n competition f o r her home branch.
