One u s u a l l y quotes the words of a great statesman but I
would l i k e t o quote the words of a f e l l o w W. I. member. " Husbands are t h e ones
who h e l p us bear the burdens we wouldn't have i f we hadn't m a r r i e d them." Unquote.
Those men who bend a w i l l i n g ear t o us when we come home
from a meeting o r event and t e l l them e x a c t l y , and i n no u n c e r t a i n terms, what
we should have s a i d or done a t the s a i d o c c a s i o n.
Qhose men who promise to f i x o r r e p l a c e t h i n g s i n our homes
but, a f t e r a p e r i o d of y e a r s , i n f o r m us those p a r t i c u l a r a r t i c l e s are now permanent
as i s ; o r perhaps he c o n s i d e r e d those r e p a i r s as h i s own p e r s o n al
C e n i e x m i a l p r o j e c t but, as i n o u r house, he n e g l e c t e d t o say what C e n t e n n i al
y e a r.
Those men we n e e d l e , wheedle, c a j o l e.
Those men who have numerous f i n g e r s and thumbs when t r y i
n g to f i n d one s i z e a b l e o b j e c t i n a house cupboard or drawer and i n f o r m u s ,
" Why don't you throw out h a l f t h i s junk?"— when the o b j e c t i s r i g h t there i n
view.
Those men who say, " Mother, don't f o r g e t to f i l l the c ar
gas tank or one o f these days y o u ' l l be w a l k i n g . " o r p r e s e n t us w i t h a b u t t o n -
l e s s s h i r t or h e e l e s s sock.
Those c h i v a l r o u s , hardy, f a c e t i o u s , doubty but complex
males who when i l l and as soon as a thermometer i s popped i n t o h i s mouth and
read 100° temperature, immediately f l a k e out on the bed.
Those men who a r e t h e breadwinners of t h e f a m i l y , who
work form dawn t o dusk f o r h i s community and numerous needs and wants of h i s
f a m i l y . Those men we l o v e and wouldn't do w i t h o u t . Ladies r i s e and w i t h me
d r i n k a t o a s t to t h e m a i n s t a y of our f a m i l y u n i t s — O U R HUSBANDS.
