Our guest for our February
meeting was Red Deer
Centre Constituency Convener,
Vi Moore. She presented
to us, a very interesting
resume of W. I business
at all levels. Among the
many facts we were
informed that we are twinned
with New Brunswick this
year and that there are three
Tweedsmuir competitions in
which to enter. One of these
competitions is a written
memory of a one room
school incident - so hopefully
we will Find a ' budding'
author within our membership.
In addition to the two
books published by Alberta's
Women's Institute; " Many
and Remarkable" and " Tractor
Trouble", another book is
in the planning stage. This
book will be comprised of
animal stories, so with a
March 31 deadline the
request has been made for
animal stories with good
endings, to be sent to out
provincial office.
Plans were completed for
our annual Heart Fund card
party which was held at the
Pine Lake Hall on February
28 at 8: 00 pm.
Three sessions of learning
or updating our knitting and
crocheting skills have been
completed.
Plans were completed for
our Blind Auction to be held
at the March meeting. A l l
receipts from this auction
will be our donation for the
Adelaide Hoodless Homestead
fund.
To honor Founder's Day
each member is to contact
someone on February 19 and
invite them to the March
Meeting.
Pine Lake W. I. will
donate a Tractor trouble
book to the Elnora Play
School, on behalf of Alberta
W. I.
Marion Brown reported
completion of Pine Lake
W. I. 1997 summary into our
history book as well as completion
of summary for the
Red Deer Centre history
book.
Thank you as well to
Helen Vincent from Hillsdown
W. I. who accompanied
Vi Moore as her guest. Helen
is Red Deer Centre education
Convener for Environmental
Conservation.
Roll call was answered by
8 members and 2 guests by
bringing old cards and calendars
for our Social Services
convener as well as bringing
3 homemade edible valentines
which we shared at coffee
time.
We welcome guests
and/ or new members on the
second Tuesday of each
month at 7: 30 p. m. at the
' Hub' Community Centre.
