T W E N T Y - F I R S T PROVINCIAL CONVENTION 27
REPORT OF TREASURER, ALBERTA WOMEN'S INSTITUTES,
1937- 1938 and 1938- 1939
Madame Chairman and Ladies:
It is with pleasure that I bringi this report to you. today and I will welcome
any discussion you may care to make after I have finished.
During- the year 1937- 38, one hundred and seventy- five Branches paid
dues and during 1938- 39, one hundred and ninety- six. Twenty- one were
brought up to date and $ 335.00 received in arrears of dues.
I wish to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to all Institutes for
their co- operation, especially to those who, falling behind, brought themselves
up- to- date in one year. It took considerable striving and quite an
amount of money but they persevered and accomplished the task.
If you desire to send your fees by cheque, pleas. e add the words " and
exchange" instead of adding any specified amount to your cheque. The exchange
is not always the same and you may rest assured no- more will be
added than is absolutely necessary and it will save much writing and exchange
of letters. Also be sure to state name of your Branch and post office
address on all letters containing money, as well as giving your name.
In case your officers change, will you be careful to see that you have
proper signing authority at the bank before you issue cheques. Several Institutes
have been inconvenienced during the past year by not attending to
this matter,
Your fees are due as soon as you have held your annual meeting. Please
do not wait until August or September, for then you are eight or nine months
late.
I would suggest that you do not keep names on your register that are
in arrears with their dues for when you report these, we expect you to pay
the $ 1.00 per member on them and it may create a hardship in your Branch.
You report only the paid- up members on your register at the time of your
annual meeting and will be expected to pay dues on them.
I have been asked if you pay in advance. No. You are paying for the
year just passed.
Respectfully submitted,
A D E L A I D E MONTGOMERY, Treasurer.
