C o n s t i t u e n c y Conveners of S t a n d i n g C o m m i t t e e s have v i s i t e d v a r i o u s I n s t i t u t e s to

A very successful Conference was h e l d at Three H i l l s where the C o n v e n e r s of
S t a n d i n g C o m m i t t e e s gave most excellent a n d helpful r e p o r t s S i x t y - t h r e e Were ta
a t t e n d a n ce
H a n d H i l l s C o n s t i t u e n c y School equipment, p l a y g r o u n d equipment, hot
lunches, school fairs and l o c a l a g r i c u l t u r a l fairs are some of t h e c o m m u n i t y w o rk
done b y I n s t i t u t e s i n t h i s C o n s t i t u e n c y One b r a n c h b o u g h t a n d f u r n i s h e d a b u i l d ­i
n g for a C o m m u n i t y C l u b H o u s e a n d s t a r t e d a c o m m u n i t y l i b r a r y Another sent
a wheel chair to D r u m h e l l e r H o s p i t a l a n d flowers to t h i r t y homes, one branch
specializes i n F i r s t A i d W o r k Another b r a n c h p u t on t h e i r y e a r l y o r a t i o n contest
w i t h great success and yet another b r a n c h has t a k e n over the care of the local
cemetery and p l a n t e d 2 500 caraganas a n d 250 poplars

A feature ot t h i s Conference was a s p l e n d i d d i s p l a y of a r t i c l e s made f r om flour sacks,

Conference was h e l d i n Y o u n g s t o w n w i t h t w e n t y - e i g h t present. A m o n g the
e n t e r t a i n i n g numbers on t h i s p r o g r am was some e s p e c i a l l y g o o d v i o l i n music a n d a
couple of r e c i t a t i o n s b y a y o u n g e l o c u t i o n i s t , t e n years of age, w h o gives p r o m i s e of
a s p l e n d i d future

o u t s i d e speakers as w e l l as excellent papers b y l o c a l members. One b r a n c h t a k e s a
s p e c i a l interest m c h i l d welfare a n d another has s t a r t e d a c o m m u n i t y chest One
b r a n c h has done m u c h h o s p i t a l w o r k , assisted the a g r i c u l t u r a l f a i r a n d the school
f a i r , h a v i n g d o n a t e d $ 100 00 t o the later o r g a m z a t i o n Another b r a n c h has p r o ­v
i d e d c l o t h i n g f o r a f a m i l y of s i x a n d are h e l p i n g i n the m a i n t e n a n c e of a n o r p h an
c h i ld
T h e Conference, w i t h e i g h t y i n attendance, was held a: O v e n A unique
feature of t h i s Conference was the r o l l c a l l , as each I n s t i t u t e was c a l l e d a l l members,
present s t o o d , each w o m a n gave her present name, her m a i d e n name a n d p l a c e of
b i r t h Nearly e v e r y p r o v i n c e i n C a n a d a was represented, s e v e r a l s t a t e s i n TJ S ' A ,
a n d a l l p a r t s of G r e a t B n t a m , as w e l l as s e v e r a l other E u r o p e a n c o u n t r i e s . T r u ly
t h e I n s t i t u t e is C o s m o p o l i t an
C o c h r a n e C o n s t i t u e n c y In t h i s C o n s t i t u e n c y one I n s t i t u t e m a k e s a barajuei
of t h e i r a n n u a l m e e t i n g and find it most successful This b r a n c h r e p o r t s m a ny
i n t e r e s t i n g programs One m e e t i n g took the f o rm of a n " e x h i b i t of a n t i q u e s / ,'
some of the owners gave short t a l k s o n the v a r i o u s e x h i b i t s This proved, most
i n t e r e s t i n g At a n o t h e r m e e t i n g M r s T h o m a s of C a l g a r y , a g r a d u a t e o f t h e M o n t e s -
s o n T r a i n i n g S c h o o l i n I t a l y , gave a n address w i t h d e m o n s t r a t i o n s of some of the
a p p a r a t u s a n d methods u s e d i n t h i s s y s t em of t e a c h i ng
