PORNOGRAPHY:
We f e e l that awarenesa has been accomplished. If any branches or conferences
s t i l l require presentations on pornography, however, contact Holly H a l l e t t - 337- 23A9.
A r e s o l u t i o n was passed at convention re. a week where W. I. members boycott stores
s e l l i n g pornographic m a t e r i a l . This w i l l be discussed at September Council
meeting. Information w i l l be forthcoming.
BATTERED RURAL WOMEN:
The r e s o l u t i o n re. a 24 hour t o l l free number manned by p r o f e s s i o n a l councelora,
f o r battered women i n r u r a l areas, has been sent to A l b e r t a Government. This
r e s o l u t i o n Is s t i r r i n g up interest of press, and we are r e c e i v i n g support from
other groups and i n d i v i d u a l s working i n this area. Wa w i l l continue putting
pressure on MLA's and the m i n i s t e r , Dr. N e l l Webber. Letters from I n d i v i d u al
W. I. members could c e r t a i n l y help. I aaked you at convention to contact me by
l e t t e r re. further a c t i o n we should take i n the area of helping r u r a l battered
women. Please try to ger your l e t t e r s to me by Sept. 10. If l a t e r , write anyway.
We need d i r e c t i o n . The reason for Sept. 10 i s to have the l e t t e r s In time to
discuss them at the Sept Council meeting.
MEMBERSHIP:
We are holding our own, but not growing. This summer I sttended an anniversary
In D e l i a for Majestic F a r r e l l Lake. Do you know, one year they had a membership
d r i v e , and i t r e a u i t o ( j ^ n flo m a n y n e w members - a new brench was formed.
We have an excellent program - we can be proud of our organization.
T r u l y I believe there are many women wishing to J o i n our W. I. and support our
philosophy. Look at the p o t e n t i a l members i n your d i s t r i c t s . Why haven't they
Joined? Gsar yourselves up for a membership d r i v e . Change a few things. If need
be ( maybe even the time of the meeting i s an o b s t a c l e .)
I know we con do It together.
