2004 EVENTS ( Continued) BRANCH & COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES Cont'd. Heart Fund card party— 7 tables, $ 325.00 donated Cancer Canvas~$ 200.00 collected at organizational events Road side clean up supported with Marion Brown at Chair W. I. Corner grass cutting funded and flowers planted Children's Garden Club - 15/ 17 gardens completed. Gardens were judged by Doris Warke and Kathleen Lawrence. August 18th wind up " Garden Party" with each child contributing vegetables for the stew. Each child received a picture of his/ her garden along with a sheet bearing the judges comments to which was attached a blue and white ribbon and Alberta fabric rose. Coffee Party - June2nd annual event- 65 morning coffee participants including 9 men. Jelly Project - Kathleen Lawrence filled orders with limited supply of juice Notes of Support - Sent to three past members, Irma and Eileen Lawrence and Frieda Bragg who are cancer victims. Crossroads Ag Fair - Sponsored Needlecraft Section with Phyllis Mangan as winner. HUB Race Nite - Donated basket of Jelly for Auction Tour of College Side Bethany Care Centre & Sports Hall of Fame made especially enjoyable with a pot luck lunch at the home Marilyn Wattenbarger preceding the tour. Christmas Market - Sold 17 1/ 2 tables to vendors, 50/ 50 draw, sold noon lunch. Lynn Kadar won the door prize of a fabric basket made by Doris Warke. Almost $ 500.00 profit made. Christmas Family Pot Luck Supper - Returned to HUB Hall for the successful event with candy bags presented by Santa Clause. Christmas greetings sent to past members Seven Christmas Mugs donated to Red Deer Mobile Outreach Program Monthly meeting reports sent to Innisfail Province and the R. D. County News Branch History for branch and constituency kept up to date. CONSTITUENCY ACTIVITIES Constituency Handicraft Tea and Display - April 24/ 04 at the Red Deer Museum. 9/ 10 members entered 27 articles. Twenty one received first placing - 111 points. Constituency Conference - October 16, 2004 at the Red Deer Museum. Theme, International Affairs with Heather Jones, nurse in training, speaking of her volunteer work experience in Calcutta, India under the " Mother Teresa Foundation". Marion Brown spoke on the upcoming election candidates in Afghanistan. Two members attended the Balmoral Geranium Tea and the three members enjoyed the Hillsdown Strawberry Tea. ALBERTA WOMEN'S INSTITUTES District III Workshop - March 18/ 04 in Bashaw with three members in attendance. Seventy ladies attended from Ohaton, Mameo- Leduc, Red Deer and Stettler Constituencies. Knee Hill Valley C. C. - April 03/ 04 attended by five members. Lt. Lois Hole was guest speaker who emphasized the importance of public school education and the vital role of the arts. AWI Convention - June 8, 9 & 10, 2004 at the Red Deer Lodge. Theme, Families Around the World. Four members attended. The convention hall was decorated with hundreds of quilt blocks that will be made into quilts which will be raffled as a fund raiser for FWIC Convention 2006. $ 50.00 donated to Office Fund. Branch supported taking WATER out of the NAFTA Agreement.
