Couple celebrates 65 years 65th Wedding Anniversary Celebrated on August 2. 2001. Friends, neighbors and familx gathered at the Pine Lake Hub Centre to extend best wishes to Eric and Vera Pierce on the occasion of their 65th Wedding Anniversary ( August 5. 1936 - 2001). This is a unique Anniversary in that Eric was bom on the quarter- section that his father home-steaded. He went to school at Pine Lake, his four children went to school at Pine Lake and he still lives on the same quarter section in the home he built for his bnde. sixty five years ago. Vera ( Houston) Pierce took her teacher training at the Camrose Normal School. She taught at Lou-sana and Grass) Lake, where she met Eric. During the evening Councilor Penny Archibald brought congratulations from the County of Red Deer and presented a framed plaque to Eric and Vera. Ronald Underwood contributed several appropriate musical selections and the following tribute, composed by Rose Douglas, was read. Now Eric was a wholesome lad. Strong and good looking too! He had a way with women, many he came to woo. Then came one day a little school marm. Vera Houston was her name. Eric completely lost his heart, for thai he had no shame. We think of fnends and loved ones, and not what tife has measured. So we all wish Eric and Vera, on this very special day. years of health and happiness, and may only good things come their way. It is interesting to nole that seven of Vera's former students were present for the evening.
