Durlne the fifty years of our existence our Inst itute
Members must have made e nough quilts to cover a l l the beds
in our homes
In August- 1Q29 Esta Stuart donated a pieced quilt top,
vhlrh '" he m^ bers rle^ ly accepted. To complete the quilt the
treasurer purchased sir yards of lining @ 30<?', 3half pound
rot*- on ba+- tc. $ ? 5 « , and ? s p o o l s of t h r e a d for ?^< f. Mrs. Crommie
was n° ld $ 3. for completing t he quilt makin » a t o t a l cost of
| 5 « " 0. Tickets were sold at each, amounting to $? 3.0Q.

The next ye° r a wool quilt was sold for $ 5• <^ Ot> ut the
material cost $'.? 0 ( the wool was donated) so the net profit
w^ s only $ 3 « 30.
Our ore* ident , Kabel Me H i s , suggested In November - J931 »
that, we form into groups of four or five to make wool comfort-e
ri f o r sale, to raise funds for our work. Each group was
advanced $ 1. 1 5 to purohase materials. Several groups were formed
end a number of quilts were made and s o l d.
A flower quilt , wl^ h blooke appliqued by the members was
iron by Annabel Geo^ e. Proo eeds amounted to § 1 1 . 3 5 end $ 10.00
of ^ hln was given to ou*" Cemetery Committee.
In March 1939, Mrs Ruth Smith and Mrs. W. S. Muoc. le proposed
* hat vie make an autographed quilt proceeds to go to the
cemetery work. The Dream Boat design was cho.- en and yellow
and blue broadcloth was purchased. The blue square s were embroidered
with the w. mes of Individuals at 1 ( V per name. The
boat squares showed t n e names of business men or flrmswhc paid
