» •• ~ a. Motions at convention were reviewed for clarity. These will be offered during the business portion of the convention. b. Convention: • Maxean distributed the duties sheets to all council members. Mildred, Florence and Maxean will share chairing the sessions. • An evaluation sheet and an Idea sheet will be included in each attendee's package. These will be reviewed in September and used to develop future projects and the next convention. Phyllis will gather the " Ideas" sheet and have a report for council in September. Darlene Wicks will gather the " Evaluation" sheet and also bring to Council in September. • Each council member will write on a different part of the convention for the fall issue of Home and Country. Maxean - overview; Darlene Hallett - opening and first speaker; Mildred Luz - Ed. Conveners topics; C. C. meeting - Darlene Wicks; Florence Bernakevitch - Helen Hartley; business meeting - Ada Ashton; and the Banquet - Diane Smith. • Maxean reviewed the volunteer appreciation awards and explained the process for that portion of the convention. At the end of the individual awards, each council member will take a basket filled with pins and distribute to all convention members, honoring everyone's volunteer work in AWI. c. Nova Scotia Funding: • Maxean shared a letter from Nova Scotia describing their efforts to obtain grant funding. Attachment. d. Application to AFRD for funding. • Maxean and Fern will complete the application and forward late in June. e. Home & Country • Fern has been investigating the possibility of a new printer for the Home & Country. Marilee Kosik, editor, uses Clairis Works ( Macintosh) to enter all the data for the paper. The printer then re- types the data into Microsoft - Page Maker. If it is possible to reduce this double typing, money could be saved. If a new printer becomes available closer to the office, a decision may be necessary to streamline the production of the paper. • Both our current printer and the alternate printers have indicated that costs could be reduced by moving to a black and white format instead of the blue used on the cover of the paper. Motion # 4 - Moved by Florence Bernakevitch to delete the blue color from the front of the Home & Country to save costs. Seconded by Mildred Luz. Carried. • A setter from Marilee was read requesting permission to increase the October issue of the Home and Country to include pictures and reports of the ACWW convention. Motion # 5 - Moved by Diane Smith to accept the recommendation of Marilee to increase the Home & Country for October 2001 to 12 pages. Seconded by Darlene Wicks. Carried. f. FWIC Board Meeting • The annual FWIC Board Meeting will be held in Wetaskiwin on July 14 — 16t h. Maxean is unable to attend due to family commitments. Mildred Luz will attend the board meeting in Wetaskiwin in her absence and report to the September meeting. • The AWI office has been approached to assist with driving attendees from the Edmonton airport. Fern Killeen will be the chauffeur to and from the airport on a personal basis and will charge FWIC for her services as contracted with them. No other assistance has been requested at this time from the AWI office. • A request had been made to have AWI branches host lunch and dinner during these meetings. These requests will be forwarded to the District Three meeting that will be held during the convention for action. 3-
