Rules for the addition of names were drawn up at this convention. At this convention Mrs. A. B. McGorman was elected to represent the Alberta Women's Institutes at the A.C.W.W. Conference to be held in Copenhagen. In 1950 lVII's.A. B. McGorman, Mrs. E. E. Morton, and l\Irs. .\1. I. McKenzie attended the A.C.W.W. Conference where 600 delegates from 21 countries gathered to further the well-being of women throughout the world. Mrs. E. E. Morton was elected one of the eight vice-presidents and received the greatest number of votes at the election. Life memberships in the Federated Women's Institutes were presented by the A.vV.I. Council to Mrs. M. L. Thompson, and Mrs. C. R. Wood, M.L.A., for their faithful service in the A.W.I. over many years. :\Irs. Rose Patterson attended the F.W.I.C. Board meeting at Saskatoon as the A.W.I. representative and at this meeting in 1949 '\Irs. E. E. Morton was made President of the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada. Mrs. A. B. McGorman, the newly elected A.W.I. President attended the F.W.I.C. Board meeting also. It was at the 1949 convention that the Cancer Fund was discontinued and a new objective-The A.W.I. Fund-started. THE 1951 CONVENTION The 1951 convention was held in the University of Alberta Convocation Hall, Edmonton, May 21-24, with Mrs. A. B. McGorman presiding. A Leadership Course in conducting meetings and outlining the duties of the various officers, was a feature at this convention and it proved to be most helpful to the delegates. Another new feature was the departure from the reports of various officers and instead, panel discussions were held with directors, constituency conveners, and conveners of standing committees bringing out many interesting highlights and important work done. It was at this convention that it was found advisable to divide District 3 into two districts with eight constituencies in each. Also it was decided that life memberships in the A.\V.I. be provided for, and members-at-Iarge in the A.W.I. be permitted. Mrs: A. H. Rogers, Edmonton, having given 47 years of faithful service in the Women's Institutes, was the first to receive the life membership in the A.W.I., and that same evening, Mrs. H. .1. :\Iontgomery became the second recipient of the A.W.I. life membership pin. The recipient of these life membership pins is exempt from
