Douglas Thompson, the new supervisor visiting. Mrs. Lcfsrud was again present and helped present a group musical number during the three days of the convention. Mrs. Morton also was present and the girls collected a purse toward her trip to the Amsterdam convention. At this convention, a prize of a trip to Olds with fare and expenses paid was awarded for the first time to the best set of secretarial reports during the year. Rosalie MacDonald, from Leduc, was the winner. The TWENTY-EIGHTH CONVENTION was held in Olds in July 1948 with Mrs. C. C. Robinson, newly appointed supervisor in charge. Mrs. Douglas Thompson had found it necessary to resign during the year. A fashion show and the awarding of the trophies for the various competitions were highlights. The TWENTY-NINTH ANNUAL CONVENTION was held in Olds, in July 1949. with Mrs. C. C. Robinson, supervisor, and Mrs. George Hay, assistant, in charge. The first W.I. Boys' Club-the Live Wire Lads, of Innisfail, was formed in October 1948. lVlr. George TIay, their supervisor, taught the club members to do shop work. A highlight of this convention was a demonstration on stage make-up by Mr. Richard Macdonald, Director of the Cultural Activities Branch of the Department of Economic Affairs. Mrs. A. B. McGorman who followed in Mrs. Morton's footsteps as A.W.I. President, was present at the convention and was a great help and inspiration to the girls and boys. Four associate supervisors, one for each district, attended this convention and were very helpful in carrying out a successful convention. The THIRTIETH ANNUAL CONVENTION was held in Olds in .July 1950, with Mrs. C. C. Robinson supervisor and lVII's. Geo. Hay assistant, in charge. Three W.I. Boys' Clubs had been organized and Mrs. Geo. Hay took charge of the boy delegates at the convention. l{adio station CFCN offered two cups-one for public speaking for the boys, and one for club efficiency for the girls. Edgar Robinson, of Innisfail was the winner of the cup for boys and the most efficient club of the year was "The Munson IvIerrymakers". Eighty sewing kits made by A.W.LG.C. members, were sent during the year to eighty war orphans who were graduating from a vocation school in Greece. Some clubs adopted war orphans and made clothes for them. At the suggestion of Mrs. A. B. McGorman, A.W.I. president, the Club Travel Fund was started to assist outlying clubs in sending their supervisor and a representative from each club to the annual convention in 1951.
