and other sections of the
anti-w- ar movement in the Nor-dic

for a Nordic nuclear
weapon free zone The cam-paig- n
entitled Treaty Now has
since won the support of a wide
range of groups and a large
number of individuals throug-ho- ut

The central aim of the cam-paign
is to have resolutions in
favour of a regional nuclear
weapon free zone adopted by ali
the Nordic parliaments by the
summer of this year Assisting
the campaign is a group of ex-per- ts
on international law who
in cooperation with a number of
politicians are dealing with
procedural aspects of the reso-lutions
According to the organisers
of Treaty Now the purpose of
the zone shall be to commit 'the
Nordic countries not to permit
nuclear weapons on their terri-tor- y
under any circumstances
A Nordic nuclear weapon free
zone' they stress 'is not in
conflict with the basic security
interests ofthe super powers it

stand on three 144 metres long
legs The size of the platform
will be 124 metres by 70
metres
Rauma-Repol- a is presently
building two slightly smaller
jack-u- p rigs for the Soviet Uni-on
Prior to this the Finnish
company has built three semi-submersi-ble
oil drilling rigs for
an American company
Rauma's deal is another im-porta- nt
step towards increased
industrial cooperation with the
Soviet Union The company is
also negotiating on building
semisubmersible rigs together
with Soviet shipyards

the final document of its di-sarma-ment
session in 1978 the
UN unanimously recommend-e- d
the establishment of nuclear
weapon free zones as an im-porta- nt
part in the struggle for
disarmament
The one-ye- ar campaign will
end in Oslo Norway at a four-da- y
