A l e r t s annual meeting was h e l d at
Tj'ön Puisto Sunday aftemoon. At
the meeting v e h a d t h e h o n o u r of
h a v i n g present both the educational
and g ym i n s t r u c t o r s of t h e leader-s
h i p courses K a r l K e t o l a , a n d iPaavo
V o u t i l a i n e n , a n d a l s o the Secretary
of the L u t t o Paavo Vaurio,
The meeting opened v i t h the
reading of t h e m i n u t e s 'Which •was
followed by a report of the past
year's activities revealing, that v e
have h a d 9 meetings i n the past year.
I t -was revealed i n the secretary's
report that the membership: now
stands at 89 members. A report of
the past year's income a n d expenses
was read by o u r treasi4rer E l v i Salo,
i n 'which i t besame apparent that
our finances are considerably short
of the .sian needed for the coming

T h e n we proceeded on t o electing
members to t h e executlve. This was
done :by secret iTallot a n d t h e m e m ­bers
elected are Myq-a K a i h o , Hans
H u h t a n e n . Emppu Johnson, Uuno
Sirviö, iEdwin K o r h o n e n , M a r t y S u -
tman and P a u l Salo. Iris L e h t o la
and M e l v i n ' L a t v a l a 'were elected as
spares. F.lvi Salo v a s re-elected
treasurer. The present members of
the executlve have not y e t been a s -
signed t h e i r tasks. This -Birill be done
at the next executlve meeting. -
Paavo Vaurio brought greetings
f r om the L i i t t o and thanked t h e e x e -
cutive members for t h e i r past good
work and exipressed hope t l i a t they
be re-elected toecause "they have
gained experince i n t h e i r positions.
Paavo V o u t i l a i n e n stressed that t he
present activities c o u l d ibe w i d e l y e n -
langed a n d as a n example pointed out
t h a t many tformer onembess who " i n
t h e i r day" h a d ibeen active a nd
enthusiastic gymnasts and athletes
could still find enjoyment out of
memberähip i n t h e c l u b . It i s quite
obvious that because of t h e i r l a m i ly
responsibilities young mothers are
unable to p a r t i c i p a t e as actively as
many of t h em v^ould -wish. B u t . t h e re
are other forms of activies t h a t could^
be c a r r i e d o n iby s u c h groups as f or
instance setting up sewing circles i n
the case of t h e ivomen w h i c h would
seaT^e to keep them i n c o n t a c t w i th
the club i n a more direct v a y .
T h e meetmg wound up i n a n
enthusiastic bean and h o t - d o g feed
t h a t we hope reflects the e n t h u s i a sm
