aftcr that. Over ten helicopters
went looking. for them' but they
found notliing.
Dad Jocated Cedar H i l l on the
map. He said that the next morn-ing
he would go and look for it. I
wanted to go too.and dad said it
would take about 3 days, but if 1
don't get tircd, I may gp.
A nice day came 'and mother,
packed our lunch: But I carried
my ourn because dad could not get
everything on his back; Dad took
an axe and gun and we were on our
way. We walked ali day' and at six
in the evenlng we ate änd wcnt to

And do you know what we saw?
We saw a big bear dancing and
jumping around in the water and
three little ones right beside her.
They were thowing something out
of the water. Dad took. a shot at
the big bear and it disappeared in-tO/
the lake. We never saw it again.
, We discovered' that they had
been throwing trout out of the watr
er. No wonder they were f at, be­cause
they had a lot of trout to eat.
We had to go straight west to
reach Cedar Hill and it was not
long before we were there. I yelled
to dad and asked him what the shi-ning
tbing was that I could see.
He said it was the helicopter. When
we got to it we saw that one man
had been thrown out of the 'copter.
A package of gum had fallen out of
his pocket but dad wouldn't let me
pick it up.
When we got back home and re-ported
our discovery no one seemed
to' believe Jt. But two men came
and landed their plane on Round
Lake.. They picked us up.
vWhen we landed on Smith Lake
near Cedar Hill we hit something
hard and i t tumed out to be the
bear we had shot. Th6 men were
so angry they said we vvould get no
reward for finding the 'copter be­cause
we.did not gitre exact direc-tions
where to land.
With me leading, v/e took the
men to the 'copter. About twQ.
weeks later I received 2 packages
of gum and a long black licorice
pipe, '

I got my report before Eas^r;
and it was pretty good. 1 was VOTT;
ried about social Studies but I got

A Week before the Easter holi­days
startedwewentto^. a Citizen-:
ship show. It was called "Thp Purr
ple Plain'' and itwas:ver:y; good.
The ten -classes\that had a godä
citizenship record were able td go.
Last Thursday. our: school- had'
a variety Coneert Some of the
children in our dass and other
classes had to sing three French
songs. I was among them. After
we sang we went up in the balcony
and watched the rest of the con-,
cert. It was very good. ,
Last Wednesday the Players'
Club in our school had a play. It
was called "Uttle Neil". It was a
comedy and quite good.
Last Friday I went to Shonefs
house and then we went to Stanley
Park. We had a nice day there and
then went to the show. We saw the
"Spirit of St Louis", which is
about Charles A. Lindberg's fUght
across -the Atlantic. A was very
mteresting.
On Sunday May 12th at 7 P.M.
there is a Mothers' Day Coneert at
the Clinton Hall. The Sparkettes
Club i s working very hard to make
it good. There is a play called "The
Reluctant Ghost" and lots of other
items.
The competitlon' between the
"Loggers" and "Fishermen" is
over. The Loggers won. They got
$1,688.58 and the Fishermen got
$1,262:42. They had a coUection
after the coneert last Sunday and
they got some more money to make
it $3,000 altogether.
Nekt Sunday there is going to
be a May Day program at Exhibi­tion

of my girlfriends,- Lynne Bash,
who lives on 21st Avenue about

Avenue. We had a lot of fun and

their fireplace the next day because
it was raining. I hope she will comC;

Yesterday my dad's nephew from
Finland came here to live. He is
fifteen and came over by 'plane
from Finland. We are glad to hav^
him.
, Easter Sunday night our girl cat
had four kittens. They are quite
cute and all look like their motfaer|
I am quite worried about «ur bo}|
cat as we haven*t seen him for
iwo days. I hope he turns up be­cause

We got our report cards a feW;
days before the East^sr holidays and
mine was juite good. I did very weU
in, my Easter exams and got lOff
percent in science.
The weather is very spring-like
and the grass is growing rapldly,
Already thero are dandelions and
leaves on the trees. For Guides I
have to make a nature scrap book
so this is a very good time to do i t .

seikka, että hän oli Fayen luona
vierailemassa sai Fayen innostu-;
maan myös.

myös kaikkia menemään lasten jär
jestämiin äitienpäivä tilaisuuksiin.
: Kyllä kai kaikki yhtyvät Johnnyn
ajatukseen, että pääsiäisloma on
hauska, mutta liian lyhyt; Lyhyt se
bpkin, sillä kaikki lapset ovat jo la
kaisin opin parissa; mutta tulpssa
han on se pitkä kesäloma, jolloin
ehtii' kyllästymään kotona olemi-seen
ja syksyllä lapset mielihyvällä
