development, that also speaks well of the elder;generation's
ability to impart the essence ^of their rich experience, to;
younger people.
Another development that should be noted is that for:
several years our mass gym program^has been choreographed
here in Canada by Csmadian born >instrudtors. In the years^
before,. the programs usuall^, canie from Finland or were
adaptations of Finnish progräms but noAv, from this a whole
new tradition of Canadian? gymnastics has been bom.
This year will see another change in the program with
the presentation of the festival play in the English; The play,
"The Inspector-General" is' truly a festival play, with a east
of overthirty, and with a high standard that has already
wcaij)raise for the production from many different quarters,
Here again.:we can see the carrying on of a great tradition,
because without the man^ decades of the Finnish stage in-
Canada behind them the younger generation could not have
developed their tai|ents arsd abilities to produce a play as
complex and demandmg as "The Inspector General".
We could draw out many ;other examples of how our
festival is chan^ing-^rbett^ said developing. And ali of
the changeS;are^4^Ily för the better^^ a^ give us J^eason to
be very optimistie^^alöbui tlie future.
. But whät about the :future-^what is the big ch«nges we
can look fdrward to?

ours in Toröfito, and another in' -Port Arthur. It does not
require a great de^ pf imaginatkm to see what a magnificent

bringing together ali organizations would make. We are
confident that 4his .wili come about. And when it does—it
will not only be a victory for Canadians of Finnish descent
-^it will also represent a definite step in the uniting of ali
the Canadian people.

was sponsored by the youth of Bea­ver
Lake Jehu. Although, there was
not the crowd we expectedj the peo­ple
that d i d come sure had a lot of
fun, I hope anyway.. Sunday, of
cQurse was the b ig day. When yours
t i u l y drove up the road to the field
I was really surprised to see a l i the
cars. It \really made me feel good
to^see ali of them and the people.

of Beaver Lake Jehu, to thank
ali the athletes who come down to
participate, especially the five thrif-ty
athletes from South Porcupine
