mounted on a stand m a d e pf five
pairs of car. wheels and a beautiful
arrängement of other i^rts of railroad

statue had been made by the vorkers
of the shops, and unveiled on May
Day, 1027. An inscription on it read:
"The Great Mechanic of the World
Revolutlon — Lenin."

defense of thehr country the system
of maneuvers—fiham battles—is the
most wldespread and popular. Each

Each of them had a rifle and a belt

youth were girls.
Some 17 versts out half of the group
left the train and struck inland. The
second half traveled some 15 versts

Kmununistinen nuorisoliiton Mont­realin
Järjestö piti yleisen jäsenistön
kokouksen perjantai-iltana, viime kuun
27 päivänä. Toveri Oscar Ryan, kom­munistisen
nuorisoliiton yleissihteeri,
antoi täydellisen raportin liiton To­ronton
järjetön tapahtmnista, joiden
johdetta on orotettu 53 jäsentä.
Toveri Ryanin raportin jälkeen su­keutui
vilkas keskustelu, ja puhujalle
tehtiin lukuisia kysymyksiä. Muuan
Montrealin toveri esitti päätöslausel­man,
joka ihnaisi täydellisimmin
luottamuksen Ja kannatuksen kom­munistisen
nuorisoliiton kansalliselle
toimeenpanevalle komitealle tämän
taistelussa torontolaista oppositsioria
vastaan.
Päätöslauselma sai voimakasta kan­natusta,
hjrväksyen seni koko Mont­realin
jäsenistö, kuutta toveria" l u ­kuunottamatta,

Mutta vaikkapa miten tuo valoilmiö
selitetäänkin, £i ole epäilemistäkään;
etteivät meteoorit saavuttaisi hirmui­sessa
kulkunopeudessaan tavatonta
kuumuutta. Ennen kuin ne saapuvat
maapallon ilmakehään, ovat ne va­lottomia
j a kylmiä. Niiden hämmäs­tyttävä
kirkkaus, niiden savusta ja
säkienistä syntynyt häntä, niiden rä­jähtämiset
lennossaan, kaikki he syn­tyvät
maapalloa smipäröivän ilman
Buotän-Amerikan Linjan uusi te­keillä
oleva rooottorilaiva Kungs-holm
saapuu New Yorkiin ensim­mäisellä
matkallaan valtameren yli
marraskuun lopulla.
Kungsholm on nyt Skandinavian
maiden suurin j a mahtavin matkus­tajalaiva,
aivan uusinta mallia. Se
on Gripsholmin sisarlaiva, mutta on
siinä tehty paljon parannuksia ja
uudistuksia matkustajatilojen y.m.
suhteen., Kungsholmin mittasuh­teet
ovat: pituus 608 jalk. (Grips-holmm
575 jalk.), leveys 78 (74),
kantavuus 19,000 reg. tonnia (18,-
000) ja 26,700 deplasementitonnia
(23,600). Koneistoon kuuluu kaksi
kaksoistoiminnallista nelikehäistä
kahdeksan sylinteristä dieselmootto­ria,
jotka 18 solmun nopeudessa ke­hittävät
20,000 hevosvoitoaa. Ensi-mäisen
luokan byttipaikkoja on 250,
toisen luokan 400 j a kolmannen luo­kan
1,000 matkustajalle.
Mitä laivan koristemaalaukseen
tulee, eroaa huomattavasti Grips­holmin
maalauksesta. Gripsholmiin
on otettu jäljennöksiä vanhoista ku­ningas
linnoista, jota vastoin Kungs-holmissa
on viimeaikaisihta ruotsa­laista
koristemaalausta. Sisäosaston
on suunnitellut arkkitehti Carl
Bergsten, maan huomatuimpia ko-ristetaiteen
edustajia.,
Laivan valmistus tapahtuu reip­paissa
otteissa, hiin että uusi laiva
voi lähteä Göteborgista New Yor­kiin
marraskuun 24 p. New Yorkis­ta
Göteborgiin se lähtee joulukuun
8 p. Siten siis Kungsholm tulee ole­maan
linjan jouluhnvimatkalaiva
Skandinavian maihin j a Suomeen.
Tehdäkseen'.laivan tunnetuksi a»
merikalaisenkin yleisön keskuudes­sa,
toimeenpanee yhtiö Kungsholmfl-la
sen saapuessa täime tammikuol

otetaan laivalle ja rajoit­tuu

voimaa, vaan pirstoutuisi ja up­poaisi
