On Aprii 29lh
A nursing Assistants' Course open
to applicants betvreen the aees of 18
and 40 vrith a Crade 8 education is
offered by the Ontario Department
of Health's Nurshag Bramdi. The
nine<month course — three months
theory i n a training centre and six
months practical experience In sever-al
ho^itals — is held i n .Toronto,
Kingston and Fort William. Upon
completioa of her training the student
enters the examination for registrat-km
as a certified Nur^ng Assistant.
During the first .three months the
course includes such subjects as
Stnicture and Funetien of ithe Hiunan
Body , Personal Hygiene. Hospital
Housekeephig, Nursing Proceduzes,
Simple Cookery, Care of the WeU
Baby and Mother, and Gtmple IVeat-ments.
.The next six anonthi are spent in
gaining practical experience in the
vrards of various hospitals \mder su­pervision,
St\idents are aided financlally by
a training allonvance of $60 a n u n th
while attending one of the three
schools. I n additlon, the cost of r a i l -
way or bus transportation to the
TraJning Centre is refunded.
Af ter graduatlon, nursing assistants
are established i n a career which
affords full csnployment as wäl as
a reoognized status i n the community.

Kun näin lyhyessä ajassa har­joitellaan

kun kurssilaisista suurin osa oli
koululaisia, joiden piti Iltaisin kurs­sien
jälkeen suorittaa koulutyönsä,
n i in on annettava vilpitön tunnustus
heidän saavutukselleen. K a i k k i Jotka

työn.
Ohjelma aloitettiin avausmarssilla,
joka oli kaunis. Tytöillä oli punaiset
voimistelupuvut Ja pojilla valkoiset
housut. Siinä he seisoivat 27 voimis­telijaa
ja lauloivat O Canada. Voimis,
telun ohjaaja P. Voutilainen lausui
yleisön tervetulleeksi, mainiten ettei
se missä kurssit pidetään ole ratkai­seva
.vaan se. että nuorisoa kasvate­taan
oikealla tavalla.
Ohjelman esittäjänä toimi Onni.
Seuraavana ohjelmanumerona oli tyt­töjen
Ja isompien polkien muokkaus-voimistelu,
joka suoritettiin hyvin.
Runon "OJrheilupälvänä" lausui mxs.
Ankllä. Sitten seurasi mattoliikkei-tä
pieniltä pojilta. Joille ylicsö antoi
erikolsklltoksen. Tytöt esittivät van­han
kansan tanssin, osoittaen nuor­tenkin
pystyvän sen tekemään. Ilma
Tuumosen laulu piti uusia yleisön
pyynnöstä.
