H«re I am writicg another letter.
I just finished reading the letter that
I wrote to you last week.
How is sister Margaret and ali the
others? I am feeling just fine. Here"s
another letter for sister Margaret to
put i n the paper. The paper's name
is the Vapaus.
First I wm teli you that it was sr
cold here one night that the river
froze right over from bank to bank
but now it has melted again. About
three inches cf snow fell aheady.
I caught a rabbit i n my traps and
my mother and I ate it. My father
doesn't like rabbit meat. He said that
he didn't even like it i n Finland.
OUT COW pushed our calf into the
place where it eats from. My mother
had to kili it. It was a very nice
calf and i t had a patch on its ear tbo.
Now we have only nine animals.
The women's club raised money for
the children'3 Xmas presents. They
ftad a Hillowe'en dance at our school
and then they bought a nlce woollen
blanket which they made raffle tic-kets
for. I bought one for you. I
hope you win that blanket then I will
send it to you.

Onko jokainen ollut hauskalla tuu­lella
tällä viikolla? Minun pitää olla
kotona tänä päivänä kun olen ko­vassa
yskässä mutta luulen, e t t ä siltä
paranen joskus.
En ole oikein varma, mutta minä
uskon e t t ä viimeinen kirjeeni el saa­punut
olleiikaan Vapauteen. Toivon,
e t t ä tämä saapuu sinne.
Äiti meni kylään nyt puolisen Jäl­keen.
En minä sanonut hänelle että
kirjoitan kirjeen. Näytän sen vasta
kun hän palaa kctiin.
Tämän aamun sääennustuksessa sa­nottiin,
e t t ä limta pitäisi sataa mutta
silti on vain kaunis, aurinkoinen päi­vä.
Minun täytyy mennä ottamaan
yskänlääkettä taas.
Nyt pian alan etsimään talvipöksy-jäni
taikka muuten palellun. Kyllä-kai
jokaisella on jo talvivaatteet et­sitty
valmiiksi. Minulla on ainakin.

I don't know how i t happened that
I fcrgot to put my name on my last
two letters. They were both mine.
E^'elyn K i v i was home last Saturday
but she went back the same night.
I was' to see a play at Nolalu hali.
The name of i t was •'Naimahulluja".
It vas a funny play.
The weather has faeen nice and
warm.
I was out for Hallowe'en treats.
I went to three places. I didn't come
home that night. I stayed at my
cousin's home. We didn't do anything
bad because everyone gave us treats.
Ilma and Shirley had been at our
place that same night with their
masks on; .Marlene had started to
cry SO they had to take of f their
masks. At one place where we \vent
the lady told us »a funny story to
make us laugh so that they could find
out who we were. When we got home
we went to bed and ate some of our
treats. When I came home the next
day I gave Marlene a sucker.
Grade five, six and seven have been
havlng their tests. I guess grade three
and four-are having their tests next
Week. That will be my turn because
I'm in grade foiu-.

EUen Feeds Birds
in Winter Time
Dear sister Margaret.
How are you feeling? I hope you
are feeling fine. I have had chicken-i
pox and I have been away from school
for two \veeks. I could not go to the
Hallo\ve'en party but I got lots of can-dy
anyway. Not very many children
came to get shell-out tickets this year.
My brother went t*-the party.
How is Eira Elgbacka? I hope she
is fine. Why doesn't she writc to the
Vapaus?
I take piano Icssons and I like them.
How is the weather over there? It
has been warm in Parksville. The
summer is over so no more swimming!
Christmas is coming soon. I will be
glad when the snow is on the ground.
I am going to feed the birds. I fed
them last Winter, too.
Our next-door neighbour".s have a
baby and I play with him. He is cute.
He lies on the mat and tells me to
puli him . I cannot play with him for
two weeks now th2t I have the chick-en-
pox.
My mother planted some grass .seeds
and .she doesn't like when our dog
walks over it. It is tied up now. My
brother took it for a walk but the rope
broke and the dog ran away.
I think this is ali for now.

It is nearly a year since I last
wrote to this page but now I ' l l have
to get busy and write more often.
The weather down here has been
quite cold, One day It rained and
the other day i t snowed.
Christinas is not far away and our
school is going to hold a Christmas
ooncert. Ali the pupJls are busy
leaming their parts for the Christmas
play.
I was at a birthday party here at
Beaver Lake on Saturday. It was
Sheila Kautiainen's birthday. AU the
children enjoyed tiiemselves and* we
had lots of goodies to eat, i would
hke to thank Sheila's mother very
much for the trouble she went to wlth
us.

Gee, it has been very cold here. How

I had a birthday party Saturday
night, Oct 22nd. My birthday was
really on the 24th. I am tweive
years old now. For birthday gifts I
I received gloves, nylon stockings, 2
necklaces, l barette. perfume, a jewel-ry
box, fountain pen and three doUars
i n money.
My grandmother Just came back
from my aunfs place in Ajax. She
is going back to Garson aftcr the
Santa Claus parade here on Nov. 19th.
My mother knit Ilona a green dress
and a pair of panties. She is knitting
her a blue dress now.
I went out on Hallowe'en night
and took my brother and sister wlth
me. We got lots of apples and
candy.
I guess I will say good-bye for now.

Gee, you'd never think that is is
November already because the ther-mometer
outside is 60 today. It isnt
really very varm though because

I was -home tor eight bours on Sa­turday.
Old I ever have a grand time!
I didn't want to come back. I left at
one and came back at ten after nine
in the evening. I am getting my x-ray
on the 20th of this month. If ifs

doctor says that I can go home for
