Arso Ivanovic
"TECHNICAL FREEZING" a new art form — an expression
of an American artist of Yugoslav roots.
In this atomic age when man finds so little time to satisfy
his personal and aesthetic needs, it is only with great
difficulty that we can interest or satisfy lovers of the fine arts.
And so we find artists — especially fine art painters —
adopting various methods of expression which somehow
reflect the tempo of contemporary life and grant visual
satisfaction to the patrons of the arts. Their best opportunity
for success and recognition is with introduction of
something new, something which will excite, interest and
bring to the fore the most subtle feelings of the viewer.
One of the country's notable innovators in the field of fine
arts is the artist Professor ARSO IVANOVIC, who lives and
works in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born and educated in
Yugoslavia, he considers himself an American artist, but
does not reject his Yugoslav roots. His post-gradua- te studies
in the USA and ten years of residence here are intimately
connected with the flowering of his creative talents and this
period can be singled out as being most vital in his artistic
development.
While studying IVANOVIC experimented with his art until
he finally arrived at the so-call- ed "TECHNICAL FREEZING"
method. It should be noted that IVANOVIC is one fo very few
painters who employ this technique with success. The secret
of this techique lies in the placing of the wet painting into
extremely cold temperatures. Under these extreme condi-tions
of cold the water colors freeze and crack, creating an
indescribably beautiful effect. It reminds one of the lacey
frost of a cold winter window.
This artistic media is very complicated. The artist must
control the cracking process of the colors. It is not unusual
for the artist to destroy many paintings to achieve the desired
effect. There are such a variety of freeze variations that
IVANOVIC has not begun to explore or perfect all of them.
His goal is to exboth art lovers and critics.

Bom in 1933 in Pec , Yugoslavia.
Graduated from the Intermediate Art School
in 195556.
Graduated from the Academy of Creative
Studies, Belgrade, 1960.
Member of the Association of Fine Art of the
Socialist Republic of Serbia since 1963.
He has exhibited collectively and in one-ma- n
shows in Pristina, Pancevo, Belgrade, Banja
Luka, Leskovac, and Zagreb in Yugoslavia and
with the Association of Artists in Serbia.
Awarded special recognition at Youth Festi-val
of Serbia and Montenegro in 1959 and 1960.
He has worked in Yugoslavia as an indepen-dent
artist and as an Honorary Illustrator for the
newspaper Politika in Belgrade from 1962 to 1966.
He presently lives and works in the United
States and since 1966 is a resident of Chicaqo.

Stanovnici zemlje-kontinen- ta Aus-tralij- e

Nije ni cudo — stoeni fond u ovoj
zemlji sa svega petnaestak milijuna
stanovnika zaista je impozantan:
broji trideset milijuna goveda, sto-tinu
i pedeset milijuna ovaca (!) i
dvadesetak milijuna — klokana. Ali,
osim po potrosnji mesa, Australci
su poznati i kao pivopije: nakon sto
su dugo bili na prvomu mjestu u
svijetu, sad su na trei'emu — nez-natn- o
zaostaju za SR Njemackom
i C'ehoslovackom. Zabiinjaajuoi po-stot- ak
pregojaznih, pa i medu dje-co- m,
ipak nije posljedica, jnesoz-derstva- "

Pokusaj fasisticke organizacije Ognjeni krizevi da izvrsi drzavni
udar u Francuskoj i uvede rezim po uzoru na Hitlerov nije uspio zbog
generalnog strajka u kojem je sudjelovalo cetiri milijuna radnika. Komu-nistic- ka
i socijalisticka partija u lipnju 1934. sklopile su savez protiv
fasisticke opasnosti stvarajuci tako temelje sireg antifasistickog narod-no- g
